We’ve added Groups!

GroupsAnother widely requested feature from our users is now live. We’re releasing TripSay groups!

Are you a passionate diver? Log in and create a group for divers, invite fellow divers to the group and share your best tips and diving places and discover new ones. You can form an invite only group between your friends or a public group where anyone can join.

Tired of those anonymous recommendations and reviews from people who you do not know? Create your own group with friends whose opinions you trust and never get disappointed in someone’s anonymous recommendation again. You can join or create a group for whatever you are interested in, invite your friends and start collecting wisdom of the greatest places on earth.

Check out for example the snowboarding group or the party group. One of our favourites is the silly names group (Hassut nimet in Finnish) that has places that sound silly in the Finnish language. Will you be the first one to create a group for the Iron Maiden World Tour 2008?

  1. Social travel service TripSay adds groups (we have beta invites) Says:

[...] the recently launched Finnish social travel networking service, has added a ‘groups’ feature at the request of its beta [...]

I tried to comment on this earlier, but it got lost in bit heaven. Hopefully this time I’ll be more lucky!

Anyway, the first feeling that I had about this new feature was, “What would I need this for?”. Fortunately Tuomas here put me right: he suggested I use it to mark areas of great drives for fellow Caterham 7 owners. That’s a great idea! I could get people to visit the site, possibly sign up, and collect a whole database of fantastic areas to drive.

However, there are a few things needed:

    * Would be great if I could mark actual routes, not just locations. I’m too lazy to mark the routes down myself, but I know others who would be more than happy to do this.

    * I should be able to post an URL to the group’s locations and have them access it, whether they have signed up or not. Then they could easily join the group to add their own locations.

    * Should be able to see all these cool locations on a map on the group page.

Anyway, I think this feature has great potential. Just needs to be handled right. With a few tweaks I’d already be posting about it :-)
